Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 28: Jammu Police, South Zone have uncovered the murder of a woman initially projected as a natural death.
An official told Early Times that acting swiftly a team of Police Station Bahu Fort under the command of Inspector Sushil Choudhary arrested the husband of the deceased woman, solving a case that had remained unreported for nearly a month. The investigation was conducted under the close supervision of SSP Jammu, with overall monitoring by SP South and SDPO East, ensuring a thorough and time-bound probe.
“On 26.09.2025, sister of the deceased woman lodged a written complaint regarding the suspicious death of Simriti Sunwar w/o Tej Pal Singh R/o Mangnar, District Poonch A/P Trikuta Nagar Extension, Jammu,” the official said.
“The complainant stated that on 26.08.2025, her brother-in-law Tej Pal Singh S/o Subash Singh took his wife for alleged medical treatment. However, on 27.08.2025, he returned with her dead body and conducted her cremation at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground in a hurried manner to conceal evidence, without getting postmortem conducted and without informing law enforcement agency,” he added.
“The complainant further alleged that the deceased had been subjected to cruelty, bore suspicious ligature marks on her neck, and that there were financial disputes between the couple over the purchase of a new house. Photographs supporting these allegations were submitted,” the official said.
“Based on the complaint, FIR No. 286/2025 U/S 103 BNS was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. A professional investigation team, including the FSL team and crime photographer, inspected the rented accommodation and collected relevant evidence. Statements of witnesses were recorded. On the basis of the scientific examination and gathered evidence, the accused Tej Pal Singh was arrested on 27.09.2025 by Police Station Bahu Fort. Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” he said.
