Land scam: Crime Branch arrest, chargesheet 2 property dealers

Jammu, Sept 30: Crime Branch has arrested and chargesheeted two Property Dealers of Kathua for major land scam involving an amount of ₹ 1.25 crore.
The arrested and chargesheeted property dealers have been identified as Devinder Singh S/o Jai Singh R/o Ward No. 10, Kathua and Anil Kumar S/o Bishamber Dass R/o Baira, Kathua.
In 2024, an FIR was registered on the written complaint received from Jaswinder Singh of Pathankot, Punjab and Verinder Sharma of Greater Kailash Jammu, stating therein that the complainants being partners in the firm “Transworld Infra Developers and Builders” had been intending to manufacture a unit in Kathua. Accused Devinder Singh and Anil Kumar approached them and claimed that they had 270 Kanals of land at village Govindsar Kathua. The accused falsified land ownership records to sell the land they did not own and duped the complainants of ₹ 1.25 crore.
During the course of investigation, the offences were proved against the above mentioned accused. They were arrested and chargesheet was filed against them today in the Learned court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua.
Earlier also, a case FIR No. 323/2020 U/S 120-B, 323, 415, 417, 419, 420, 426, 447, 465, 467, 468, 471, 506 IPC was registered at Police Station Kathua, against one of the above mentioned accused namely Devinder Singh. The offences were proved against him and challan was produced in the court of law.
Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu Benam Tosh confirmed that accused involved in case FIR No. 24/2024, U/S 420, 465, 467, 468, 120-B IPC, Police Station Crime Branch EOW Jammu, were arrested and chargesheet filed in the court of law for judicial determination.
