Pathology Conference
12/5/2025 10:46:22 PM
The ongoing annual conference of the Indian Association of Pathologists & Microbiologists (IAPM) and International Academy of Pathologists being hosted by Government Medical College, Jammu has brought together leading pathologists and microbiologists to deliberate on the latest advancements and innovations shaping the field of pathology.
The 5-day annual conference on the theme “Emerging Trends in Pathology: From Morphology to Molecular insights will deliberate upon various issues and would also look for solutions.
While addressing the inaugural session of the conference Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the need to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data analysis into diagnostic processes for accuracy and speed and to strengthen the bridge between science and medicine.
He stressed the need for a healthcare system focusing on enhancing diagnostic accuracy and reducing time to treatment. Mainstreaming the precision medicine approach through advanced diagnostic tests is crucial.
In the changing health scenario diagnostic laboratories are playing a crucial role as the reports generated by these laboratories form the basis of the line of treatment.
The field of pathology has emerged as one of the most challenging fields. It needs to be empowered with cutting-edge advancements. We need to develop standard protocols for patient treatment through multidisciplinary research.
Pathology is not merely a support service; it is the foundation on which effective treatment stands. With the rising prevalence of cancer, infectious diseases, metabolic conditions and rare disorders, the call for advanced diagnostics is louder than ever. Precision medicine, which tailors treatment to the individual genetic and molecular profiles of patients, depends entirely on high-quality pathology services. By mainstreaming advanced diagnostic tests—ranging from genomics and molecular assays to AI-driven imaging—the healthcare system can ensure faster interventions and better outcomes.
Under PM Modi’s leadership the healthcare sector has seen historic transformation. Health insurance coverage, digital health platforms, and research capabilities. Initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, the National Digital Health Mission, and the expansion of medical institutions have created fertile ground for a diagnostics revolution.
The success of pathology as a discipline lies in its ability to adapt swiftly and ethically to technological change. AI cannot replace human expertise, but it can augment it. Molecular diagnostics cannot flourish without trained professionals and rigorous quality control. Conferences like the one underway in Jammu serve as catalysts—bringing together minds that can translate innovation into practice.
