Jammu, Dec 5: The Congress party’s much-publicized Media Talent Hunt initiative has triggered discontent among long-time party workers, who feel overlooked despite years of loyalty and service. Many believe the leadership should have focused on grooming existing cadres instead of turning to outsiders for key media roles.
Rather than promoting committed party members to handle communication and media responsibilities, the Congress high command has opted to induct non-members into its pool of national spokespersons and media panellists. This decision, insiders say, has left several workers demoralized.
A senior Congress leader, requesting anonymity, told The Early Times that entrusting crucial responsibilities to individuals without an ideological grounding could backfire. “Selecting outsiders to manage sensitive areas like media through a talent hunt is not a wise decision. We have ample talent within the party. There is no need to search outside,” he said.

“If you believe in building an inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous India, we invite you to join our journey. The Indian National Congress is committed to equal opportunity and inclusive representation, and we strongly encourage individuals from marginalized communities to apply,” the statement further added.
On Thursday, AICC coordinator for the Media Talent Hunt campaign, Hari Shanker Gupta, said the initiative was launched in line with the vision of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He described it as an open platform for like-minded, public-spirited individuals—particularly the youth—to join the party’s communication network.
Gupta stressed that the Congress is offering a transparent process that allows applicants to submit their profiles online for screening. “Those who qualify will get opportunities at the district, PCC, and even national levels. The Congress party has always encouraged hidden talent, and this campaign continues that tradition,” he said.
