Srinagar Police seize Rs 1 crore property of notorious drug peddler

Srinagar, Dec 7: In a major strike against the narcotics network operating in the city, Srinagar Police on Saturday attached a double-storey residential house worth around Rs 1 crore after investigators confirmed it was purchased from proceeds of drug trafficking.
Police spokepserson in a statement, in a continued and determined crackdown on the drug menace and its supporting ecosystem, Srinagar Police has attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately Rs 1 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property, located at Natipora, is registered in the name of Javid Ahmad Ganie S/o Nazir Ahmad Ganie R/o Astan Mohalla, Natipora. The accused is a habitual drug peddler and is involved in FIR No. 23/2025 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Chanapora.
During investigation, it was conclusively established that the property had been acquired from proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. Based on these findings, the competent authority ordered attachment of the said property under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, it reads.
The attachment was executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Chanapora, ensuring due legal compliance. As per the order, the owner is restrained from selling, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property, it reads.
Srinagar Police remains firmly committed to combating drug trafficking and will continue to take strict action against those involved in promoting, financing, or facilitating the drug trade, the statement reads.
