Srinagar, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday submitted a charge-sheet before the Special Anti-Corruption Court in Srinagar against a former Sarpanch from Ganderbal in a bribery trap case.
J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau presented Charge-sheet in case FIR No. 13/2023 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 of Police Station ACB Srinagar Kashmir against accused public servant namely Mohammad Muzaffer Rather, then Sarpanch Manigam Ganderbal, in a bribery case before the Hon`ble Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar.
The FIR was registered on 01-08-2023 on a written complaint alleging therein that aforesaid accused demanded Rs 9,000/- as bribe for affecting settlement between the complainant and his sister, of a property dispute between them, it reads. A trap was laid down and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 9000/- as bribe from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered on spot and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the accused’s hands, it reads.
Statement reads that, Based on the facts and circumstances together with cogent evidences brought on record, the investigation established the commission of offence u/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the accused public servant namely Mohammad Muzaffer Rather, then Sarpanch Manigam Ganderbal.
After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the Govt. the charge-sheet has been presented before the Hon’ble Court of Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar, today on 16 December 2025 for judicial determination. The next date of hearing has been fixed on 02-03-2026, reads the statement.
