Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 21: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti-IPS today visited District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu and District PCR Jammu to review the preparedness and implementation plan of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112).
The IGP Jammu Zone chaired a high-level meeting at the Conference Hall, DPL Jammu focusing on the rollout of ERSS-2.0 and improvements over ERSS-1.0, with special emphasis on reducing response time both on ground and on paper through system optimisation. Detailed discussions were held on GPS-based accurate vehicle location tracking, Location Based Services (LBS), Emergency Location Service (ELS), and enhanced response mechanisms on Dial 112.
It is pertinent to mention here that 112 is the one emergency, one number in the entire country.
The four core components of ERSS—Emergency Caller Interface, Despatcher, Field Responder and Supervisor were reviewed to ensure real-time coordination, effective supervision and faster dispatch and response.
The IGP also visited District PCR Jammu, where ERSS-112 is proposed to be operationalised and reviewed existing infrastructure, technical readiness, space availability and logistical preparedness. Gaps related to manpower, emergency response vehicles, technical support and response-time benchmarks were identified.
Manpower (nafri) requirements, deployment of emergency response vehicles, technical equipment and system integration were discussed threadbare to ensure smooth and timely implementation of ERSS-2.0.
The meeting was attended by DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh-,SSP PCR Jammu Koushal Kumar, SP Headquarters Jammu Irshad H. Rather, DySP DAR Jammu Tahir Amin Sheikh-JKPS, ERSS Nodal Officer PCR Jammu Nadia Farooq and the technical team.
Addressing the officers, the IGP stated, “ERSS-112 is a critical citizen-centric emergency service. Our focus is not only on rapid on-ground response but also on improving response time on paper through technology-driven processes. Accurate location tracking, efficient dispatch, and accountability at every level are essential to save lives and strengthen public confidence. ERSS-2.0 will significantly enhance these capabilities.”
