| General Category People’s Front meeting held | | | early times report
Jammu, Dec 27: A meeting of General Category People’s Front was held under the chairmanship of Jadish Dogra, the Vice Chairman of the Front here today and discussed in detail the challenges being faced by the General Category people and the country. Addressing the meeting, Yash Paul Sharma, President of the Front alleged that the government had been promoting casteism and communalism through its reservation policy. He said that discrimination on the basis of caste, religion and past injustices is criminality of worst kind, barbarism in politics moral turpitude and is an attack on secularism and democratic culture of the country and if reservation on the basis of caste is not done away with, will ruin the nation sooner or later. Mr. Sharma added the reservation has led to inefficiency and second rated standards in jobs and admissions and ended efficiency in the Govt. system, which provided the services of inefficiency teachers, doctors, engineers and bureaucrats to the public. He demanded immediate corrective measures to end caste discrimination and marginalization being done with general category people. He also sought removal of restrictions imposed on the fair implementation of fundamental rights and implementation of all the verdicts of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India delivered on reservation. Mr. Som Nath Sharma Gen. Secretary of Front denounced derogatory remarks against Brahmin girls by an IAS ranked officer and sought stern action against him. He said that it is the result of reservation which are going to be tragic. The basis of caste and casteism be eliminated by making it irrelevant in every field. He alleged misuse of stringent SC/ST Atrocities Act and called for checks to prevent its exploitation for personal vendetta. SC/ST atrocities Act is malaise plaguing our society and democratic system. It needs to be replaced by National Atrocities Act to ensure atrocities free India society. Mr. Jadish Dogra Vice Chairman of front in his presidential address expressed serious dismay over the delay in addressing the issue of M.B.B.S admissions in Shri Vaishno Devi University funded by the Shrine Board. He said that 80 percent seats be provided to Hindu candidates. He called for the formation of Hindu Temples and Shrines Prabandik Board (HTSPB) with a representative Character to oversee the administrative offices for better management of Hindu temples and Shrines. He advocated for the elected bodies to take control of all administrative affairs, urging an end to government interference similar to the approach taken in the case of other religions. Government should immediately hand over the control of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to Hindu Board. He also condemned Hindu man-lynching in Bangladesh. |
