7-day FDP on AI culminates at MCM

Chandigarh, Dec 27: Department of Computer Science and Applications, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, held the valedictory of AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy sponsored one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Artificial Intelligence and its Applications’, here today.
The valedictory session was graced by Ms. Radhika Singh, HCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Rajesh Bhatia, Director, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Radhika Singh highlighted the paradigm shift brought about by AI, and asserted that it is important that being at the forefront of shaping futures, it is important that academicians integrate AI-driven tools in teaching and research to enhance learning outcomes and societal impact. She also emphasised the importance of capacity building, continuous faculty development, and alignment of academic research with national priorities.
Dr. Rajesh Bhatia termed AI as a life-changing technology and double-edged sword that academicians should empower themselves with for high-quality, outcome-oriented education and research.
He motivated participants to focus on innovation, interdisciplinary research, and translation of academic research into real-world applications.
30 participants from across the country attended the FDP that had expert resource persons from academia and industry who explored a wide spectrum of topics pertaining to AI and its applications over the course of 7 days. The resource persons for this insightful FDP included Prof. Ajay Mittal, UIET, PU, Dr. Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, DCSA, PU, Dr. Padmavati, Associate Professor, PEC, Prof. Akashdeep Sharma, UIET, PU, Dr Jitendra Virmani, Senior Technical Officer, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, Mr. Sachin Bhandari, GM, Pinch AI, Mr. Ripudaman Singh, Data and AI Engagement Lead, Accenture, Dr. Manvjeet Kaur, Director and CEO, Accelor Microsystems, Dr. Jagreet Kaur, Head of AI Xenonstack, CEO, Akira AI, and Dr. S. K Varshney- Science Facilitator and promoter, Former Advisor, DST.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma expressed heartfelt gratitude to AICTE and ATAL Academy for their support and guidance for this FDP on a topic of contemporary importance. She appreciated the efforts of the organising committee, resource persons, and participants for their dedication and active involvement, which contributed significantly to the success of the FDP.
She further highlighted the significance of adaptability in a way that technology does not marginalise the humans.
