Department of Youth Services & Sports concludes 5-day Residential Refresher Course

REASI, Dec 27: The five-day Residential Refresher Course for Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs) and Physical Education Teachers (PETs), organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), Reasi, concluded successfully today at Sangyog Ghar, Reasi.
The valedictory function was presided over by Sh. Tarsem Singh, District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Reasi, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest. While addressing the participants, he appreciated their enthusiastic participation throughout the course and underscored the crucial role of REKs and PETs in promoting sports culture, physical fitness, and overall personality development among school children.
Sh. Tarsem Singh emphasized that Physical Education Teachers play a pivotal role in identifying sporting talent at the grassroots level and grooming students towards discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a healthy lifestyle. He reaffirmed the Department's commitment to strengthening school sports by organising regular capacity-building and professional development programmes for field functionaries.
The Chief Guest expressed his gratitude to the esteemed resource persons Balwan Singh, Romesh Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Arun Dev Singh, Mohd. Raiz, and Rahul Bakshi for delivering informative theoretical and practical sessions during the refresher course. He also lauded the efforts of Sh. Opinder Pal Singh, Overall Incharge of the Refresher Course, for his effective coordination and smooth conduct of the programme.
On the concluding day, prizes were distributed to encourage excellence and active participation among the trainees. Vinod Kumar secured the First Prize, Mohit Kumar bagged the Second Prize, while Sahil Kumar won the Third Prize.
While sharing their feedback, the participants stated that the refresher course proved highly beneficial as it enhanced their professional knowledge, familiarised them with modern coaching techniques and updated sports rules, and boosted their confidence to effectively train, guide, and motivate school children.
Others present on the occasion included Ankush Sharma, Kajol Devi, Anjana Sharma, and Dilshan Singh.
