JAMMU, Dec 27: SI Gul Sheraz, Sector Officer (Traffic) Mughal Road, Poonch has been placed under suspension for allegedly misusing his official vehicle (Innova Crysta Interceptor) to make a social media reel. In the video, which later went viral on various social media platforms, the officer was reportedly seen protruding out of the fully opened front door of the moving vehicle while it was dangerously plying on the slippery, snow-laden Mughal Road near Pir Ki Gali.
The incident attracted widespread criticism and raised serious concerns regarding safety and professional conduct, particularly given the hazardous road and weather conditions prevailing in the area. Consequent upon the suspension, ASI Anil Kumar has been deployed as the new SO (Traffic) on Mughal Road.
A departmental enquiry into the incident has been ordered by the SSP Traffic Rural Jammu and entrusted to the DySP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch. The suspended officer has been directed to report to Traffic Police Lines, Rural Jammu, with immediate effect. SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, Shri Farooq Qaiser, has reiterated that there is zero tolerance for any violation of the Motor Vehicles Act or traffic safety norms, whether by civilians or by Traffic Police personnel themselves. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found compromising public safety while driving on roads.
