Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 1: In a chilling start to the New Year, security forces foiled a major cross-border terror plot after detecting a nefarious infiltration attempt from Pakistan along the India–Pakistan Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
Highly alert troops spotted suspicious drone activity in the Khari sector early on New Year’s Day, following which a bag was dropped from across the border into Indian territory. The incident immediately set off alarm bells, prompting a swift and coordinated counter-operation by security forces.
Acting with lightning speed, troops deployed along the LoC launched an intensive search operation in the early hours of the morning in close coordination with the Army, the Special Operations Group (SOG), and the local police.
During the operation, the drone-dropped bag was recovered from the Pulastya River. A subsequent examination revealed three packets containing narcotics,

ive bullets, and an improvised explosive device (IED), pointing towards a well-planned attempt to fuel terror activities in the region.
Sources said the recovery confirmed prior intelligence inputs indicating that Pakistan-based handlers or terrorist outfits operating across the border were planning a fresh nefarious act. Acting on this intelligence, security forces had already been placed on high alert, enabling them to intercept the consignment before it could reach its intended destination.
The timely detection and decisive action by the security forces averted what could have been a major terror strike, officials said. A detailed investigation is underway to trace the origin of the drone, identify the handlers involved, and unravel the larger conspiracy behind the attempted infiltration.
Security agencies have intensified surveillance along the LoC, reaffirming their resolve to thwart any attempt aimed at disturbing peace and security in the region.
