Jammu, Jan 6: Amid growing resentment and discontent within the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress following the recent appointment of district presidents, the party high command has stepped in to contain the fallout and restore internal cohesion.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has tasked its General Secretary in charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Naseer Hussain, with engaging disgruntled leaders and workers to address their concerns. Dr. Hussain, a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, is expected to hold one-on-one meetings with party leaders who have expressed dissatisfaction over the appointments.
According to party sources, the move comes in response to simmering anger among sections of the cadre who feel sidelined in the organisational reshuffle. Senior party functionaries believe the outreach by Dr. Naseer Hussain is aimed at defusing tensions, reassuring party workers, and preventing factionalism ahead of upcoming political challenges in the Union Territory. The leadership is keen to ensure organisational unity and strengthen the party structure by addressing grievances through dialogue.
Party insiders said the high command is closely monitoring the situation and may consider corrective measures if required, as maintaining discipline and cohesion within the organisation remains a priority.
