Jammu, Jan 8: In a sustained and uncompromising offensive against bovine smuggling, Jammu Police has delivered decisive results under Operation Kamdhenu. The year-long crackdown reflects the firm resolve of Jammu Police to safeguard public sentiments, enforce animal protection laws, and dismantle organised cattle smuggling networks operating in the district.
During the period under review, Jammu Police achieved the following outcomes:
88 FIRs registered against individuals involved in bovine smuggling.
248 cases disposed of through focused investigation and legal follow-up.
217 accused arrested for their direct involvement in illegal activities.
1,514 bovines rescued from unlawful transportation and cruelty.
177 vehicles seized for use in bovine smuggling operations.
07 habitual offenders detained under PSA to neutralise repeat criminal activity.
08 history sheets opened against notorious smugglers for continuous monitoring.
10 vehicles blacklisted due to repeated involvement in bovine smuggling cases.
In addition to enforcement actions, Jammu Police has initiated stringent preventive measures including opening of personal files, blacklisting of vehicles and systematic tracking of repeat offenders to ensure long-term disruption of the smuggling ecosystem.
SSP Jammu stated, “Jammu Police will not tolerate organised crime that hurts public sentiments and violates animal protection laws. Operation Kamdhenu is a sustained mission and habitual offenders will face strict legal consequences, including preventive detention.”
The results achieved under Operation Kamdhenu underscore Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to law enforcement, public trust and animal welfare. The drive will continue with enhanced surveillance, intelligence-based operations and zero tolerance for bovine smuggling in any form.
