SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Bringing heavy snowfall spell from Thursday night across Parts of Kashmir Valley and rains in Jammu, the Western Disturbance has moved out of the region now, while weatherman predicting dry wrather for next 48 hours, weatherman said on Saturday morning.
After Friday’s heavy spell, a few more inches of snowfall were recorded during intervening night in parts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora and Kishtwar. Rajouri town also witnessed a snowfall spell, which officials described as a rare occurrence.
They said snowfall was reported from areas that had not experienced snow for nearly a decade, attributing it to a strong cold air mass associated with the Western Disturbance, which caused a sharp dip in temperatures even in relatively warmer regions.
According to weather experts, conditions across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to remain largely dry over the next 48 hours. However, another Western Disturbance is likely to approach from Monday afternoon, January 26, which may bring light to moderate rain and snowfall in parts of the Union Territory.

Authorities have advised commuters not to travel on these routes until they are fully restored and declared safe for traffic. People have also been urged not to pay heed to rumours and to check road status only through official Traffic Police channels or Traffic Control Units.
