Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: Tawi Welfare Society expresses serious concern over the continuing uncertainty and growing discontent surrounding the issue of the proposed Law University in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The matter, if not addressed urgently and sensibly, carries the potential to escalate into widespread resentment and large-scale agitation, both from Jammu as well as Kashmir. The Society strongly believes that before the issue takes an ugly turn or leads to mass protests, an amicable, inclusive and forward-looking solution must be evolved by the Central Government. In our considered opinion, the most practical, just and sustainable solution at present is the establishment of one Law University each for both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Such a step would not only ensure equitable development and educational opportunities for students of both regions, but would also help in maintaining regional harmony, mutual respect and trust among the people. Any further delay in taking a clear decision will only deepen misunderstandings and fuel avoidable tensions. |
