Living with a Lifetime—Books are Priceless Jewels
2/8/2026 10:53:46 PM
Dr. Vijay Garg

Books occupy the highest position among those things which last forever in a man’s life. Books are not mere sheets of paper, they are riches of thought, heirlooms of experience and treasures of human intellect. Just as priceless ornaments embellish one’s decoration, so books adorn the mind and soul. Books are man’s truest companion. They give this support in suffering, show the way to confusion and deepen moments of joy. When no one understands in life, the book sits quietly listening to us. It saves us from loneliness and leads us to the light of thoughts.
The importance of books is manifested in different forms at each stage of life.In childhood they give wings to the imagination, direct thinking in youth and deepen experience in old age. Books not only impart knowledge but also teach us humanity, sensitivity and morality. In today’s digital age, when it has become easy to be distracted, books are appreciated even more. Reading a book gives the mind pause, teaches patience and cultivates the habit of deep thinking. It is an ornament that never wears out, nor loses its lustre.
Relationships come and go in human life, but one companion which never turns away is books. Just as jewellery enhances the outer beauty of a person, so books make four moons to man’s soul and personality. That is why it is said that books are such priceless jewels, whose brightness never fades with time. Immense treasure trove of knowledge Books are that sea of knowledge, the deeper you delve into them the more precious pearls will be found. Be it history, science or literature, books make us travel around the world from home. They connect us with experiences in the past and prepare us for the future. most faithful friend Friends may change, but books always remain the same. When you are alone, they give support to you. When your disappointed, they show the way by being inspiration. Books never complain, but guide man at every turn. auxiliary in the construction of character A good book is worth a hundred good friends. They purify our thoughts and teach us to distinguish between the good and bad. Great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi,Dr. BR. The books have been a great contribution in framing the life of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh. Truly, a man who befriends books is never poor in life.Wealth may diminish, companions may depart, but the acquisition of books lasts forever. Therefore it is perfectly right to say that living with a lifetime Books are priceless jewels, which make one richer from within.
