Guru Nanak Dev University, DTNBWED Sign MoU for Worker Training & Research

AMRITSAR, Feb 21: Guru Nanak Dev University, and the Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development (DTNBWED), Ministry of Labour and & Employment, Govt. of India, New Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on Wednesday to collaborate on workers' education, labour awareness, skill development, and capacity-building initiatives for the workforce.
The MoU was signed by Prof. K.S. Chahal, Registrar, on behalf of GNDU, and Col. Neeraj Sharma, Director General, on behalf of DTNBWED. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh was especially present on the occasion and graced the signing ceremony. Senior officials and faculty members from Guru Nanak Dev University include Prof. H.S. Saini, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Navdeep Singh Sodhi, Coordinator, University Industry Linkage Programme of the University, along with Mr. Karnail Singh, Regional Director, representative from DTNBWED, were also present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating that it aligns with Guru Nanak Dev University's commitment to social relevance, and societal development. He emphasised that the collaboration would strengthen efforts to educate and empower workers, particularly in the unorganised and rural sectors, by leveraging GNDU's academic expertise and DTNBWED's field-level outreach across India.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh praised the higher perspective of fostering inclusive socio-economic progress through joint training programmes, research, workshops, and skill development in regional languages. He noted that GNDU's re-accreditation with an A++ grade (CGPA 3.85) by NAAC reflects its excellence, which would now contribute to national workforce development goals.
