| International Mother Language Day celebrated in GDC Ramban | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Feb 21: The Department of languages of GDC Ramban celebrated "International Mother Tongue Language Day" today on 21 Feb 2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor. The programme was organized to underscore the importance of the linguistic diversity and the promotion and preservation of the mother tongues across the world. The programme commenced with Prof Samir Ahmad, (HOD English) efficiently managing the stage proceedings. Prof. Neetu sharma, HOD Dogri, elaborated on the genesis of the International Mother Language Day followed by Dr Sanjay Kumar, HOD Urdu, who highlighted the importance of mother tongue in a fabulous and detailed manner. He also reiterated the importance of mother tongue in shaping our emotions, identity and preserving the rich cultural heritage. Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri Principal of the college and Chief Guest on the occasion elaborated on the preservation of the indigenous languages as storehouse of identity, culture and heritage. He stressed upon the promotion and preservation of the all the respective mother tongues. He also added that mother tongue is the identity of our culture and heritage. He reiterated that languages are not merely a medium of communication but the soul of a community as well. Faculty members and students actively participated in the celebration. Students from various semesters presented thought provoking themes on this occasion through speeches, songs, poetry recitation etc. in different mother tongues. Parveen Singh, also presented a beautiful song in sarazi language. Senior faculty members including Prof. Raj Kumar Gupta HoD Chemistry, Prof. Sanjay Kumar Katal HoD Physics, Dr. Aditya Sharma HoD Computer Sciences Dr. Sanjay Kumar HoD Urdu, Prof. Arjun Gupta, HoD Commerce, Prof. Narotam Singh Assistant Professor in Physics & Dr. Varun Sharma Assistant Professor in Physics attended the program. Later certificates were presented to the participating students. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rubinder Kumar, HOD Hindi. |
