Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 21: Directorate of Horticulture Jammu Undertakes Extensive Tour of Reasi district to Review Implementation of Government Schemes.The Director Horticulture Jammu, Jenab Gul Syed, today undertook an extensive tour of District Reasi to review the progress and on-ground implementation of various Centrally Sponsored and UT Sector schemes in the horticulture sector. The Director was accompanied by the Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, Sh. Rajinder Sharma; Assistant Director Horticulture, Sh. Sunil Gupta; Horticulture Development Officer, Reasi, Sh. Puvinder Gupta; along with other field functionaries of the Department. During the visit, the Director inspected the orchard of a progressive beneficiary, Sh. Ganesh Dass S/o Sh. Kartar Nath, R/o Bhaga, District Reasi. The inspection was aimed at evaluating the benefits availed and assets created under different schemes such as CSS, MIDH, JKCIP, and HADP. The Director took a detailed review of the various components established in the orchard, including the Vermi-compost Unit and Geo Tank developed under the MIDH-SURAKSHA component. The beneficiary has successfully established a mango orchard over an area of 20 kanals, reflecting the effective adoption of modern horticultural practices, scientific orchard management, and integrated nutrient management techniques. While interacting with the beneficiary, Jenab Gul Syed appreciated the progressive approach and effective utilization of departmental assistance. He emphasized the need for optimum use of government support to enhance productivity, ensure sustainability, and improve farmers' income. He further directed the field officers to provide continuous technical guidance and handholding support to growers for achieving better results under the schemes. Later, a comprehensive review meeting was held at the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, wherein all horticulture staff were present. The meeting was also attended by MCC Sh. Dheeraj Bailam. Detailed discussions were held regarding field-level implementation of schemes, progress and strategies to strengthen monitoring and outreach activities. The Director stressed the importance of timely execution of works, proper beneficiary selection, and regular field visits to ensure effective implementation of all ongoing horticulture development programmes in the district. |
