Early Times Report

Chandigarh, Feb 21: Viksit Bharat Abhiyan Committee and Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised ‘Revive Bazaar- The Handcrafted Sale Fest’, a unique initiative designed to provide students with hands-on experience in selling, branding, and customer management.
Revive Bazaar served as a dynamic platform encouraging participants to give old items a second life by selling used, antique, upcycled, and handmade products in good usable condition. The initiative simultaneously promoted sustainability, creativity, and entrepreneurial learning, aligning with the principles of responsible consumption and innovation.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from eight teams, showcasing a diverse range of products such as handmade bookmarks, hand-painted stone paperweights, vintage clothing, air-clay items, and other handcrafted articles. The fest offered students practical exposure to market dynamics, consumer engagement, pricing strategies, and competitive selling. To recognise excellence and innovation, IQAC Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scholarships were awarded across various categories, including Best Entrepreneur Stall (Team Masiti), Most Creative Stall (Team Ekathma), Eco-Warrior Award (Team The Paper Trail), Maximum Sales Stall (Team Rusty Rockers), and Customers’ Choice Stall (Team The Panda Singh). Participants described the event as an enriching learning experience that enabled them to apply marketing strategies, understand cost concepts, and develop skills for managing competition in real-world scenarios.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma applauded the organisers for meticulously conducting the event. She emphasised that such initiatives not only foster awareness about creative reuse, waste reduction, and eco-friendly practices, but also reflect the institution’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible entrepreneurs and promoting sustainable practices among students.
