| Indian Red Cross Society, organizes First Aid Awareness Camp | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 21: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir, organized a comprehensive First Aid Awareness Camp with special emphasis on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the District Court Complex, Kathua, in the esteemed presence of Sh. Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua. The programme was conducted with the objective of equipping members of the judicial fraternity, court officials, and supporting staff with essential life-saving skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies within the court premises and beyond. Recognizing that emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, severe bleeding, or sudden unconsciousness can occur without warning, the session focused on enhancing preparedness and building confidence among participants to act promptly and responsibly. The technical session was led by Dr. Manpreet Kour, Medical Officer who delivered a detailed presentation on the fundamentals of first aid and demonstrated the correct technique of performing CPR as per standard guidelines. The demonstration included identifying signs of cardiac arrest, checking responsiveness, maintaining airway patency, performing chest compressions, and understanding the importance of immediate intervention before professional medical help arrives. Participants were also sensitized about managing common emergencies such as fractures, burns, bleeding control, and shock. The camp was efficiently organized and coordinated by Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS JK, who ensured smooth execution of the training programme. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with attendees actively engaging in hands-on practice and clarifying their doubts regarding emergency response protocols. On the occasion, Sh. Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua, appreciated the initiative taken by IRCS, JK and highlighted the importance of first aid knowledge in institutions like courts, where a large number of people assemble daily. He emphasized that timely assistance and basic life-saving skills can significantly reduce the risk of fatalities during medical emergencies and encouraged regular awareness programmes for capacity building. The initiative reflects the continued commitment of IRCS JK towards promoting humanitarian service and strengthening community resilience by empowering citizens with practical skills that can save lives.
