Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Feb 21: Under the impactful road safety campaign titled "No More Accidents - Follow Traffic Rules," Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation organized a Traffic Awareness Camp at Main Chowk, Akhnoor today. The programme aimed at sensitizing the general public about traffic discipline and preventive measures to reduce road accidents in the region.
The event was attended by the SDM Akhnoor, Tehsildar Akhnoor, SHO Akhnoor, DTI Traffic, along with other officials, prominent citizens, transporters, shopkeepers, youth, and commuters. The active participation of both administration and civil society reflected a united stand towards strengthening road safety initiatives in Akhnoor.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sonia Verma, Director/CEO of Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation, stated:
"Road safety is not merely about following rules; it is about protecting human lives. Awareness, discipline, and responsible driving can significantly reduce avoidable accidents. Every citizen must act responsibly on the road."
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Ravia Khajuria, President and Programme Coordinator of the Foundation, emphasized:
"Youth have a crucial role in spreading traffic awareness. If young drivers adopt responsible driving habits and encourage others to do the same, we can truly achieve the vision of 'No More Accidents.'"
During the awareness drive, participants were educated about the mandatory use of helmets for two-wheeler riders and pillion riders, compulsory wearing of seat belts in four-wheelers, avoidance of mobile phone use while driving, adherence to speed limits, and respect for traffic signals and road signage.
Special emphasis was also laid on proper vehicle maintenance. Citizens were advised to regularly check headlights, brake lights, indicators, braking systems, tire conditions, mirrors, and overall vehicle fitness. Officials highlighted that mechanical negligence often contributes to road mishaps, which can be prevented through timely servicing.
Pamphlets carrying key road safety messages were distributed among commuters, and interactive sessions were held to address common traffic violations and their consequences. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by participants to strictly follow traffic rules and promote a culture of safe driving.
The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to organizing similar awareness initiatives across the region to ensure safer roads and responsible driving practices.
