2/23/2026 9:34:42 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Feb 23: In a landmark moment for cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K’s cricket team is set to face formidable opponents Karnataka in their first-ever final of the prestigious Ranji Trophy from Tuesday onwards.
The historic clash marks a significant milestone in the region’s cricketing journey, reflecting years of perseverance, talent development, and rising competitiveness on the national stage.
The final will be played at KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, Hubli in Karnataka from tomorrow.
Having already etched their name in the record books by reaching the final after a gap of over six decades, the J&K side now stands on the brink of creating history.
The team’s remarkable campaign has been powered by a blend of youthful energy and disciplined performances, with key players stepping up at crucial moments.
Among those leading the charge are promising cricketers Auqib Nabi and Abdul Samad, both of whom have emerged as pivotal figures in J&K’s dream run. Auqib Nabi’s consistent bowling performances have provided crucial breakthroughs, while Abdul Samad’s explosive batting and ability to handle pressure situations have made him one of the most exciting prospects in the squad.
Samad, already known for his aggressive stroke play and experience in high-pressure games, is expected to play a defining role in the final.
His ability to accelerate the scoring rate and dominate bowlers could prove vital against a strong Karnataka bowling lineup.
Meanwhile, Nabi’s knack for picking wickets at key intervals will be crucial in containing Karnataka’s seasoned batting order.
The J&K team management has expressed confidence in the squad, emphasizing unity, discipline, and belief as the driving forces behind their success. “The boys have shown tremendous character throughout the tournament. Reaching the final is a proud moment, but the job is not done yet,” a team official said.
On the other hand, Karnataka, one of the most successful teams in Ranji Trophy history, will enter the contest with experience and depth on their side. Known for producing top-tier domestic and international cricketers, Karnataka poses a formidable challenge for the J&K side.
They have players like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, Karun Nair and many others who have known at international level already.
Cricket enthusiasts across Jammu and Kashmir are eagerly awaiting the final, with hopes high that the team can script a fairytale ending to an already historic campaign. The match is not just a contest for the title, but a symbol of inspiration for aspiring cricketers from the region.
As the two teams prepare to clash, all eyes will be on whether J&K can rise to the occasion and lift their maiden Ranji Trophy, turning a dream run into an unforgettable triumph.
