Swift action by Reasi police leads to arrest of two accused in theft case; stolen property recovered

REASI, Mar 6: Demonstrating prompt action and effective investigation, District Police Reasi successfully solved a theft case and arrested two accused persons involved in the crime, recovering the stolen property along with the vehicle used in the commission of offence.
On 04.02.2026, a theft case FIR No. 69/2026 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered at Police Station Katra on the written complaint of Rakesh Kumar S/O Bodh Raj R/O Moori, Katra lodged at Police Post Kakryal.
In his complaint, the complainant reported that some unknown persons had stolen 14 shuttering plates worth approximately Rs. 56,000/- from his possession.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police team launched an investigation and conducted sustained efforts to trace the accused. During the course of investigation, two accused persons were identified and arrested.
They have been identified as:
Atul Sharma S/O Late Narayan Dutt R/O Kotla, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
Ravi Kumar S/o Bodh Raj R/o Sirah Kotla.
During further investigation, all the 14 stolen shuttering plates were successfully recovered from the possession of the accused persons. Additionally, one auto load carrier bearing registration number JK20B-4085, which was used in the commission of the theft, has also been seized by the police. Further investigation into the case is underway.
The whole operation was carried out by IC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterated commitment to maintaining law and order and urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
