Dr. Vinod Chandrashekhar Dixit
4th March was celebrated as National safety Day. The first National Safety Day Campaign was launched in 1972 and has since been organised every year. The Campaign now entering its 51st year, has grown into a major national campaign widely celebrated by industry, trade unions, govt. departments, regulatory agencies, NGOs and institutions with the active support of the Central and State Governments and media. The initiative to observe such a day was taken up by National Safety Council of India. NSC was set up by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India on 4th March 1966, as an autonomous body to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary movement on Safety, Health and Environment at the national level. As an honour for such a noble cause, the foundation day of NSC was decided to be celebrated as National Safety Day in 1972. It was soon converted into a week-long event and was thus called National Safety Week .This day is dedicated to all those sacrifices, who also protected the country by giving their blood. On this day, Hindustan salutes his courage and passion. This day is commemorated with a new theme each year. The subject for this year has been declared by the National Safety Council of India as ‘Nurture young minds - Develop safety culture.’ It is a national movement carried out on annual basis to prevent and lessen the loss of life including various human being problems and their financial loss through availing them with safety, health and environment related support services. The main objective and vision of the National Safety Council have remained the same - To protect and serve the society and foster a preventive culture and scientific mindset among people. It is rightly said that “Safety applies with equal force to the individual, to the family, to the employer, to the state, the nation and to international affairs. Safety, in its widest sense, concerns the happiness, contentment and freedom of mankind.” Safety work is today recognized as an economic necessity. It is the study of the right way to do things. It has made impact on the industrial scenario at the national level by contributing to increased safety awareness and reduction in accidents. Safety of the country, not only comes to keep the country safe from enemies but also to keep the people safe from the disease in the country. National Security Day shows everyone the way to take their step in this direction. Following the country clean is also covered under security. In today’s time, the dominance of adulterated goods is more, it is also causing many diseases, and the new breed is becoming weaker, it is our duty to protect the country even more. It is also a part of security. The number of poor in the country is also very high, due to which they are vulnerable. We have to think about them too. In some way, the poor do not have to go hungry, and they can get some means of livelihood. For this also, we all need to be one; this is also a part of security. This security will also have to be borne by all of us together. Punishment after the occurrence of any incident is the job of the court to bring justice. However, all of us must think and act about ending such incidents. Only then a day like National Security Day will prove to be effective. Let us understand the importance and consider safety, health, and environment as our first objective. |
