According to sources, preliminary investigation has revealed that the girls were brought from Punjab, Haryana and other neighbouring areas on the pretext of providing them jobs in makeover centres and beauty-related establishments. Officials said that the rescued girls are being counselled and their statements are being recorded as part of the investigation. Efforts are also underway to identify the wider network involved in bringing girls from outside the Union Territory.
Police sources indicated that more arrests are likely in the coming days as investigators are examining call records, financial transactions, and links of the accused with other suspected rackets.
