Jammu, Mar 10: In a major crackdown, police busted an alleged flesh trading racket operating in the posh Greater Kailash area of Jammu and arrested a couple while detaining several other persons for questioning.
Sources said that during the raid conducted four days ago, police rescued a number of girls who were allegedly being forced into flesh trading activities. The operation was carried out following specific information about suspicious activities taking place at a residential premise in the locality.
According to sources, preliminary investigation has revealed that the girls were brought from Punjab, Haryana and other neighbouring areas on the pretext of providing them jobs in makeover centres and beauty-related establishments. However, after being brought to Jammu, they were allegedly pushed into the illegal flash trading network.

Officials said that the rescued girls are being counselled and their statements are being recorded as part of the investigation. Efforts are also underway to identify the wider network involved in bringing girls from outside the Union Territory.
Police sources indicated that more arrests are likely in the coming days as investigators are examining call records, financial transactions, and links of the accused with other suspected rackets.
The bust has exposed an organised network allegedly operating under the guise of providing employment opportunities to young women. Authorities are also looking into possible human trafficking angles in the case.
Police have urged people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods so that such illegal operations can be curbed.
