Jammu, Apr 6: The NSS Units of Government SPMR College of Commerce successfully organized a Plantation Drive within the college campus, reaffirming their commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological responsibility. The programme was held under the patronage of the Principal, Dr. (Prof.) Sunil Gupta, who appreciated the efforts of the NSS Units and emphasized the need for such initiatives to be conducted regularly. He encouraged students to become ambassadors of environmental protection in their communities. The event was conducted under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma and Dr. Deepak Pathania, who highlighted the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change, reducing pollution, and maintaining ecological balance. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, faculty members, and college staff, who collectively planted a variety of saplings across the campus. The initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness, enhancing green cover, and instilling a sense of responsibility among students towards nature conservation. NSS volunteers played a pivotal role in the success of the drive. They not only carried out the plantation activity with dedication but also took responsibility for preparing the ground, arranging saplings, ensuring proper spacing, and watering the plants. The volunteers also spread awareness about the importance of afforestation and pledged to regularly monitor and nurture the saplings to ensure their healthy growth and long-term sustainability. Among the faculty members present on the occasion were Dr. Reena Rani, Dr. Mohd. Azam, and Dr. Sunal Sharma, who actively supported the initiative and motivated the volunteers. The Plantation Drive concluded with a message of collective responsibility, urging everyone to contribute towards building a greener and healthier environment. |
