Early Times Report RAJOURI, Apr 13: The Ace of Spades Division observed Rajouri Day 2026 with deep reverence and spirited celebrations, honouring the memory of the brave soldiers and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice during the historic liberation of Rajouri in 1947-48. The occasion stood as a testament to courage, unity and enduring patriotism. The commemorations began with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the newly renovated Gujjar Mandi Chowk, where homage was paid to the valiant heroes. Special tribute was accorded to distinguished leaders such as Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Lieutenant Ram Raghoba Rane for their exemplary role in the liberation of Rajouri on 13 April 1948. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Indian Army, J&K Police, BSF, CAPFs, civil administration and members of the local community, showcasing strong civil-military cooperation. The programme featured a Pipe Band performance, a ceremonial salute by the Army Dog Unit, cultural performances by students of Valley View Army Public School, and an impressive Mallakhamb display by Army personnel. A specially curated audio-visual presentation on Operation SINDOOR paid tribute to bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation. To encourage fitness and community bonding, sporting events such as a Volleyball Tournament, Rajouri Marathon and various running competitions were organised. Events like "Rajouri's Got Talent" and "Shan-e-Pir Panjal" honoured local talent and individuals who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. The occasion also marked the announcement of the Digital Bharat Darshan initiative aimed at expanding educational outreach, alongside ongoing telemedicine services to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote regions.
