Early Times Report AMRITSAR, Apr 13: Under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University has brought laurels to the region by securing the Overall General Championship Trophy at All India Inter-University Canoeing & Kayaking Championship 2026 held recently at Shivaji Univer-sity, Kolhapur. The GNDU contingent delivered an outstanding performance, clinching 11 gold and 9 silver medals in both men's and women's categories, thereby emerging as the overall champions of the prestigious national event. The remarkable achievement reflects the university's consistent emphasis on excellence in sports and holis-tic development of students. The success has been attributed to the dedicated efforts of student-players, coaches, and team managers. Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director Sports, played a pivotal role in shaping the team's performance, while Pawan Kumar, Life Saver, also contributed significantly through his committed efforts. Congratulating the players, team managers, and sports officials, Prof. Karamjeet Singh said that such achievements highlight the university's commitment to nurture sporting talent alongside academic excel-lence. He emphasized that discipline, perseverance, and teamwork are key ingredients behind such victo-ries. He further remarked that GNDU will continue to provide world-class infrastructure and coaching facili-ties to encourage students to excel at national and international platforms. He also noted that these accom-plishments inspire younger students to take up sports and strive for excellence. Vice Chancellor said that Guru Nanak Dev University has consistently fostered a high level sports culture by promoting participation across disciplines and providing state-of-the-art facilities to its students.
