Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu & Kashmir, in line with the advisory issued by the Government of India, will observe Fire Service Week from 14th to 20th April, 2026, under the theme: "Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society - Together for Fire Prevention." The 14th of April will be observed as Fire Service Day, commemorating the supreme sacrifice of brave firefighters who laid down their lives in the line of duty while protecting life and property. This solemn occasion serves as a reminder of their courage and dedication, and an opportunity to pay homage to these heroes. During the week, a series of activities will be conducted by the department, including public awareness campaigns, fire safety lectures, demonstrations, mock drills, and evacuation exercises in schools, hospitals, commercial establishments, and other public places. These initiatives aim to enhance preparedness, promote safe practices, and foster a culture of fire safety among citizens. Fire & Emergency Services J&K continues to strengthen its capabilities through modernization of infrastructure, induction of advanced firefighting and rescue equipment, and specialized training of personnel to ensure prompt and effective emergency response. However, ensuring fire safety is a shared responsibility, and active public participation remains crucial. I urge all citizens, institutions, and organizations to actively participate in the programmes organized during the week and adopt fire prevention measures in their daily lives. Collective awareness and cooperation are key to minimizing fire hazards and safeguarding our communities. Let us reaffirm our commitment to building a safer and more resilient Jammu & Kashmir.
