Reasi police crack down on drug peddling; 12.65 grams heroin recovered

REASI, Apr 15: Continuing its firm action against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police, under the leadership of SSP Reasi Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, achieved a significant success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering contraband substance.
During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Reasi established a naka at IRP Chowk .while checking ,the driver of Alto car bearing registration No. JK20-6890 inspite of cooperating with police tried to flee from the spot alongwith other accomplice. Acting swiftly, the police team successfully intercepted the vehicle and caught both the individuals .Upon inquiry, the accused disclosed their identities as:
Anil Kumar S/o Shanker Das R/o Kanjali, A/P Nai Basti Reasi
And
Mohan Singh S/o Sunil Singh R/o Kumar Morh Katra, District Reasi
Considering their suspicious behaviour, personal searches were conducted in the presence of independent witnesses. During the search, approximately 6.20 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the right pocket of Anil Kumar, while approximately 6.45 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the left pocket of Mohan Singh. In total, 12.65 grams of heroin (commonly known as "Chitta") was recovered from their possession.
On further questioning, both accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 66/2026 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi and further investigation is underway.
The whole operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO Police Station Reasi, Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the overall supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi Vishal Singh Jamwal and Addl. SP Reasi Iftkhar Ahmed-JKPS.
Reasi Police remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs and ensuring the safety and security of the public.
