Rs 792 crore heroin empire of Lahu Gujjar exposed, funds funneled to terror groups

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 16: In a sensational breakthrough, Jammu Police have unmasked the staggering scale of the criminal empire run by dreaded narco‑terrorist Gulzar Ahmed alias Lahu Gujjar. Interrogation has revealed that the kingpin raked in nearly Rs 792 crores from the sale of heroin alone money that investigators believe was funneled directly into terror outfits operating across Jammu & Kashmir.
At a press conference on Wednesday, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh disclosed that Gujjar had trafficked 360 kilograms of heroin, building a sprawling network that stretched from Jammu and Kashmir into Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Police sources confirmed that his operations were orchestrated under the command of handlers across the border in Pakistan, with drone drops and cross‑border couriers feeding his supply chain.
“Initial investigations establish that Lahu Gujjar was running a narco‑terror syndicate with direct Pakistani links. His network was entrenched not just in J&K but extended into Punjab and Himachal Pradesh,” officials stated.
The arrest marks the end of a 10–12 year manhunt. Lahu Gujjar, a resident of Bishnah district, had been evading law enforcement since 2006, when he first made headlines for lifting an ATM in Jammu. Over the years, he amassed a rap sheet that included bovine smuggling, drug trafficking, violent attacks on police, and multiple cases registered across states. To conceal his identity, he often operated under the alias Mohammad Rafi.
Investigators have unearthed chilling evidence of Gujjar’s deep ties to Pakistan. His brother‑in‑law and father allegedly acted as conduits for heroin consignments routed through Punjab’s Kartarpur sector. These consignments were then distributed through his interstate network, generating astronomical profits that were siphoned into terror financing.
Police revealed that Gujjar had accumulated assets worth several crores through proceeds of crime, cementing his status as one of the region’s most notorious narco‑terror financiers. His arrest, officials said, is a testament to Jammu Police’s unwavering resolve to dismantle drug cartels and choke terror funding at its roots.
