Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 16: AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, successfully organized Swachhta Pakhwada 2026 from 1st to 15th April, a fortnight-long campaign promoting cleanliness, hygiene and environmental responsibility across the Institute. The initiative, aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission, witnessed active participation from Faculty members, MBBS and Nursing students, Administrative staff, Hospital attendants and Housekeeping personnel.
Throughout the fortnight, cleanliness drives were conducted across major areas including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Room (ER), academic blocks, hospital wards, and hostels, with special focus on critical zones such as ICU, Operation Theatres (OT), and Inpatient Department (IPD) to ensure strict hygiene standards.
The campaign also featured educational and awareness activities. MBBS and nursing students participated in essay and poetry competitions, while a nukkad natak effectively spread awareness about sanitation. The Department of Microbiology organized interactive activities, and the Department of Community Medicine conducted outreach drives in nearby areas, educating people about the importance of hygiene and its link to public health.
To enhance engagement, an e-photography contest, awareness walks and sensitization programmes for sanitation and housekeeping staff were also organized, recognizing their vital role in maintaining cleanliness.
The campaign was monitored through inspection rounds conducted by senior officials, including Dr. Raj Shree, Additional Director General of Health Services (RS), New Delhi, who carried out thorough inspections across key hospital areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
The event concluded on 15th April with a valedictory ceremony, where Dr. Raj Shree graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of cleanliness for the health and well-being of society.
Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, attended the valedictory function as the Guest of Honour and addressed the gathering, emphasizing that cleanliness should be adopted as a continuous habit and not limited to a specific campaign.
During the awards were presented to the best-maintained wards and outstanding housekeeping and hospital attendant staff, encouraging sustained efforts.
The successful execution of the campaign was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Swachhta Committee, led by Chairperson, Dr. Shruti Sharma, along with members Dr. Swati Rajput, Dr. Harsimranjit Singh, Dr. Ennas Chowdhary, Dr. Priya V. S., Dr. Jeevitha, Dr. Sushant Swaroop Das, Dr. Vikas Vaibhav, Ms. Bharti, Ms. Kusum, Mr. Prabhu G, and Ms. Diksha. Their planning, coordination and supervision ensured smooth implementation of activities throughout the campaign.
During the valedictory function, Dr. Shruti Sharma presented a comprehensive report highlighting the progress, impact, and enthusiastic participation observed over the fortnight.
Swachhta Pakhwada 2026 at AIIMS Vijaypur stands as a strong example of collective commitment, reinforcing high standards of sanitation, hygiene and public health awareness in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission.
