UDHAMPUR, May 5: Continuing its sustained drive against drug menace under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan Udhampur Police destroyed illegal opium poppy cultivation and arresting one accused in Panchari area. Based on reliable information was received that one person namely Govind Ram S/O Late Prem Nath R/O Kounti, Tehsil Panchari, District Udhampur had illegally cultivated opium poppy in his fields near his residence. Acting promptly on this information, a case FIR No. 22/2026 U/S 8/18 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Panchari and investigation was set into motion. During the course of investigation, a police team of PS Panchari along with a Revenue team, conducted a raid at the location. The accused was arrested on the spot.
