Early Times Report REASI, May 20: Continuing its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police recovered 58 grams of ganja from a woman during naka checking at Varun Chowk in Katra. On 19/05/2026, a police team from Police Station Katra intercepted a woman for routine checking at Varun Chowk. During the search, 58 grams of ganja was recovered from her possession. The accused has been identified as: Sanjana, wife of Deepak, resident of Amritsar and presently residing at Saraswati Chowk. Notably, the accused was previously involved in two NDPS cases registered at Police Station Katra: FIR No. 27/2026 dated 19/01/2026 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act FIR No. 95/2026 dated 13/04/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act Following the latest recovery, a third case, FIR No. 154/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway. Reasi Police has reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling and substance abuse to help build a drug-free society. |
