| D&FC intensifies market checking ahead of Eidul Azha | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 20: In Compliance to the directions of the Janab Khalid Jahangir , Commissioner Food & Drug Administration j&k ,and in view of the forthcoming holy festival of Eidul Azha 2026!,the Food Safety wing of Drug & Food Control Orgn.jammu Division launched an extensive market checking drive across the length and breadth of the division including at block levels,to ensure the availability of safe, quality and pure and hygienic food items to the consumers and the general public. During the intensive market inspections and raids the enforcement teams conducted total 260 inspections of various business establishments under the provisions of FSS Act ,the teams lifted 195 samples of different categories of food products for laboratory analysis under (FSSA) to ascertain their quality and safety Standards. Emphasizing strict implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act the constituted teams under section 69 of FSS Act compounded 07 cases /offenders with an imposition of Rs.11500/- Moreover,the Department has recommended the booking of 08 challans against the violators under the relevant Provisions of the Act. The heads of enforcement teams are on high alert mod and field staff are working on a war footing to ensure consumer Safety and safe food practices. The vendors have been strictly warned to desist from unfair trade practices and to ensure that cut fruits ,backery products ,sweets, slaughtered mutton and chicken are properly covered with glass shields to protect them from contamination.Food Handlers have been strictly advised not make use of the newspaper covers which contains harmful and non -permitted colours/chemicals posing health risks to the Consumers. Backery and sweet shop owners and other Food business Operators have also been asked to strictly adhere the provisions of FSS Act, not to use unpermitted colours and transfats.and maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and Food Safety. |
