Ramban, June 4: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse Ramban Police achieved another success by recovering contraband tablets and apprehending a drug peddler during naka checking at Model Naka Nashri.
A police party of Police Station Batote while conducting routine naka checking at Model Naka NHW Nashri intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK19A2406 which was proceeding towards Ramban. During the search of the vehicle 80 tablets (08 strips) of Buprenorphine and Naloxone were recovered from the dashboard of the vehicle. The vehicle was being driven by Tanveer Hussain S/o Sarwar Hussain R/o Bass Chanderkote, Tehsil & District Ramban who failed to produce any valid prescription or furnish any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the recovered contraband substance.
The recovered narcotic substance was seized on the spot as per legal procedure and the accused was taken into custody. Accordingly FIR No. 33/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation has been entrusted to PSI Danish Ashraf.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source intended destination and possible linkages of the recovered contraband besides identifying any other persons involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances.
Ramban Police remains committed to its zero tolerance policy against drug peddling and reiterates its resolve to take stringent legal action against those involved in narcotics related activities. The general public is requested to cooperate with the police and share information regarding drug trafficking and other criminal activities for ensuring a safer and drug-free society.
