Early Times Report ANANTNAG, June 9: Senior Kashmiri Pandit leader and former President of PSM Trust Mattan, Shri M.K. Yogi, has appealed to the District Administration Anantnag and the concerned authorities of PSM Martand Trust Mattan to ensure adequate arrangements for devotees during the concluding days of the ongoing religious congregation at Mattan. Expressing concern over the expected heavy influx of pilgrims on the final two days of the event, Shri Yogi stated that, based on past experiences, public feedback, and reports circulating on social media, many devotees have faced inconvenience due to inadequate facilities and management. He noted that a large number of pilgrims and visitors are expected to arrive from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar, as well as from neighbouring states such as Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. In view of the anticipated rush, Shri Yogi urged the administration and the Mattan Trust authorities to make comprehensive and well-coordinated arrangements for lodging, boarding, sanitation, medical assistance, drinking water, transportation, and crowd management so that devotees can undertake their pilgrimage in a safe, comfortable, and dignified manner. He emphasized that religious events of such significance require meticulous planning and effective coordination among all concerned departments to facilitate the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage and to ensure a positive experience for all devotees. Yogi also expressed concern over reports regarding the withdrawal of security cover from certain minority-populated areas of Anantnag district. He observed that minority families residing in these areas have lived with a sense of security for decades, particularly in view of the challenges and hardships faced by the community over the past 36 years. He stated that reports of reduced security arrangements have created apprehension, uncertainty, and anxiety among minority residents, who now fear for their safety and well-being. In this regard, he appealed to the District Administration Anantnag, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, and senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to immediately review the situation and restore security measures wherever necessary. Yogi stressed that ensuring the safety, confidence, and dignity of minority communities must remain a priority, enabling all residents to live peacefully and without fear. He further urged the authorities to take prompt and effective measures in the larger interests of public convenience, communal harmony, and security. |
