Early Times Report
REASI, June 9: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police achieved another success by apprehending a woman drug peddler and recovering contraband substance from her possession. Today, during naka checking at Masjid Chowk, Katra, a police party of Police Station Katra noticed a woman travelling in a Smart City Bus. Acting on suspicion, the woman was tactfully intercepted and apprehended by lady police personnel.
During questioning, she disclosed her identity as Kamlesh W/o Rakesh Kumar R/o Pouni, District Reasi. Upon conducting her personal search, approximately 3.1 grams of heroin (Chitta) was recovered from her possession. The contraband had been cleverly concealed inside her hair. In this regard, FIR No. 180/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and investigation into the case has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered narcotic substance.
Reasi Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to narcotics and other criminal activities. Public support continues to be crucial in realizing the vision of a drug-free society.
