| Samba police crackdown on narcotics smuggling; 2 notorious drug peddlers arrests | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, June 10: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug smugglers and peddlers under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Samba Police achieved significant success by arresting two notorious drug peddlers in two separate operations conducted within the jurisdictions of Police Station Vijaypur and Police Station Bari Brahmana. During these operations, police recovered approximately 113.03 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) along with a weighing machine and cash from the accused persons. Acting on information received from the reliable sources, a Police team of Police Station Vijaypur established a Naka at Tarapur road near Rakh Barotian and intercepted a pedestrian who was coming from Ramgarh side and moving towards Rakh Barotian under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 53.03 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) alongwith weighing machine and cash of Rs.1300.00 was recovered from his possession. The notorious drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmed S/o Gulan Qadir R/o Rakh Barotian tehsil Vijaypur district Samba has been arrested and contraband items alongwith weighing machine and cash has also been seized. A case FIR No.98/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started. It is pertinent to mention that the said accused is a notorious drug peddler and involved in multiple cases registered against him at Police Station Vijaypur. In another incident, a Police team of Police Station Bari Brahmana during patrolling near Nihalki area, intercepted a pedestrian who was coming from Sukhani Talab side and moving towards Shanni Kartholi Canal. During frisking, approximately 60 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from his possession. The drug peddler identified as Deepak Kumar S/o Ramesh Kumar R/o Gurha Morh tehsil Vijaypur district Samba has been arrested and contraband item has been seized. A case FIR No. 149/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started. Samba Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse. The District Police continue to intensify anti-narcotics operations to dismantle drug networks and safeguard society, particularly the youth, from the menace of drugs. SSP Samba urged citizens to cooperate with the police and share any information related to drug trafficking in their area to help make the district drug-free under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan. |
