Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), organized a "Manak Samvaad" Programme for newly granted BIS licensees under its jurisdiction at BIS Jammu office today. More than 18 representatives from newly certified industries and establishments from Jammu & Kashmir, Pathankot, and Gurdaspur regions participated in the programme. The programme was organized for licensees who obtained BIS Certification during the period from 18 December 2025 to 31 May 2026. The primary objective of the programme was to familiarize the newly granted license holders with BIS certification requirements, compliance obligations, surveillance procedures, marking and labelling requirements, renewal procedures, and various services offered by BIS. Welcoming the participants, Sh. Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, congratulated the newly granted licensees on becoming a part of India's quality ecosystem and emphasized their role in ensuring the availability of quality products conforming to Indian Standards. Addressing the gathering, Sh. Jeevanandam D, Scientist-E/Director & Head, BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office, highlighted the importance of maintaining continuous compliance with Indian Standards and emphasized that BIS certification serves as a symbol of quality, safety, reliability, and consumer trust. He encouraged licensees to uphold the highest standards of quality and contribute towards strengthening the quality culture in the country. A detailed presentation on BIS Activities and the Standardization Ecosystem was delivered by Sh. Saaqib Raahi, Scientist-C/Deputy Director, who explained the role of BIS in standardization, certification, testing, consumer affairs, and quality promotion. A technical session on Guidelines for Dealing with Non-Conformities, live demonstration of Manak Online portal (License Dashboard) was conducted by Sh. Vesalapu Avinash Babu, Scientist-D/Joint Director, wherein participants were apprised of compliance requirements, surveillance mechanisms, and corrective actions to address non-conformities. Another informative session on Guidelines for Renewal of Licences was conducted by Sh. Manish Kumar, Scientist-D/Joint Director. The session focused on Fee structure, renewal procedures, and best practices for maintaining compliance with BIS requirements. The programme also provided an interactive platform for participants to engage with BIS officials, seek clarifications on certification-related matters, and share their experiences and suggestions. As a gesture of encouragement and support, welcome kits were distributed to the newly granted licensees. The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed that the programme significantly enhanced their understanding of BIS certification requirements, surveillance procedures, and compliance obligations. BIS JKBO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting industry stakeholders and promoting a culture of quality, standardization, and consumer protection across the region. |
