Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 12: In preparation for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, a comprehensive Review Meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone at Range Headquarters Udhampur to assess the preparedness and coordination of all stakeholder agencies and to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the SANJY-2026. During the meeting, the IGP Jammu Zone reviewed the existing security arrangements and directed all concerned agencies to maintain the highest level of alertness, ensure strict adherence to security protocols and adopt a pilgrim-friendly approach throughout the Yatra period. Emphasis was laid on strengthening the overall security architecture through enhanced coordination, intelligence-based operations and proactive preventive measures. The SSP Udhampur was instructed to conduct regular inspections of Langars, lodgement centres, transit camps and other Yatra-related facilities to ensure adherence to security and safety protocols. Special focus was laid on maintaining effective surveillance and security checks at all critical locations. The Representative of NHAI was instructed to ensure that the necessary machinery, equipment and emergency restoration resources remain strategically positioned at vulnerable locations along the National Highway for prompt deployment. Adequate arrangements should be maintained for the swift clearance of road obstructions and the early restoration of traffic movement in the event of landslides, accidents or any other exigency. The meeting also emphasized the security of the National Highway and Yatra routes through round the clock domination, intensified Naka checking, area patrolling and enhanced security measures. Officers were directed to ensure effective management and security of Yatra mini-convoys, expedite tenant verification and census drives, and augment CCTV coverage at all critical Yatra locations with dedicated 24×7 monitoring mechanisms. Reiterating the significance of coordinated efforts and high operational readiness, the IGP Jammu Zone called upon all agencies to work in close synergy to ensure the safe, secure, smooth and successful conduct of SANJY-2026. |
