Jammu, June 17: National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM) today organized a Drug De-Addiction and Counselling Awareness Programme at its Project Centre, Ganga Nagar, Bantalab, Jammu. The programme witnessed active participation from local residents and students of the area. During the programme, participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse, its impact on individuals, families, and society, and the importance of timely counselling and rehabilitation in helping affected persons return to a healthy and productive mainstream life. A free counselling session was conducted by Kavita Bali, Supervisor, National Incredible Literacy Mission, Jammu, along with Rakeshwar Singh, M.Sc. Counselling and Family Therapy, and internship students. The counselling team interacted with participants, addressed their concerns, and provided guidance on overcoming substance dependence and related challenges. Speaking on the occasion, Thakur K.D. Kurhan, Chairman, NILM NGO, emphasized the need for collective efforts to combat the growing menace of drug abuse. He stated that such awareness and counselling programmes would greatly benefit society and help individuals affected by addiction lead a dignified and healthy life. He further reiterated that National Incredible Literacy Mission remains committed to supporting and assisting all those who genuinely wish to quit drugs and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens. |
