Early Times Report RAMBAN, June 19: As part of the ongoing "NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan" 100-Day Campaign, Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban organized an Anti-Drug Training Programme for teachers under the supervision and guidance of Principal GDC Ramban, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri. The programme was aimed at sensitizing and empowering teachers to play an active role in preventing drug abuse and promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle among students. Faculty members participated enthusiastically and discussed various strategies for creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Anuj Gupta, Head, Department of Geography and also Member NCORD committee, who also delivered an informative lecture on the growing menace of drug addiction. He highlighted the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of substance abuse and emphasized the need for collective efforts by educational institutions, families, and society to curb the problem. He further stressed the role of teachers as mentors in guiding students towards positive and productive pursuits. Addressing the participants, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, Principal of the college, underscored the importance of awareness and preventive measures in combating drug abuse. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and urged them to actively contribute towards realizing the objectives of the NashaMukt J&K Abhiyan by spreading awareness among students and the wider community. The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to support the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and to actively participate in awareness and prevention initiatives under the ongoing 100-Day Campaign. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rabinder Kumar, Head, Department of Hindi and CTO NCC, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, resource person, faculty members, and all participants for their active involvement and valuable contributions towards the success of the programme. He reiterated the importance of sustained awareness and collective action in achieving the goal of a drug-free society. |
