Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 19: Taking a dig at the elected government for its failures, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that "people are grappling with a host of issues and hardships, yet the government appears least concerned about addressing these issues." He made these remarks today while addressing a party event at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The event was organised to welcome a large number of social and political activists from north Kashmir's Baramulla and Sopore, into the party fold. Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, prominent party leaders who were present warmly welcomed the new members into the party fold. In his speech, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari highlighted the grave public issues and concerns that people in Jammu and Kashmir are facing these days and blamed the government for its failure to address these issues. He said, "The elected government, with over 50 MLAs, appears least bothered about the pressing public issues and grievances. Rising unemployment and growing inflation have broken the backs of ordinary people. That is why we are witnessing frequent incidents of suicide, and it is also one of the reasons behind the growing drug menace here." He further said, "This government has even failed to ensure an adequate supply of irrigation and drinking water to people in many areas. It has shown little concern for the burden of overdue electricity bills, which countless poor families are struggling to pay. As a result, they continue to suffer immense hardship. A large number of people remain in jail, and their families are eagerly awaiting their return, yet this government does not even bother to discuss this issue." Expressing grave concern over the acute shortage of professional staff in the education and healthcare sectors, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, "Our education and healthcare institutions lack staff and infrastructure, and not a single measure is being taken to address these issues." He further said, "The irony is that the Ayushman Bharat-SEHAT scheme is failing because of non-payment to hospitals. Many private hospitals and dialysis centres have stopped providing care under this scheme, yet our government remains indifferent to such a pressing issue." Those who joined the Apni Party from Baramulla included prominent educationist Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, Sahil Sofi, Shafqat Hassan, Sohaib Hassan, Khursheed Ahmad Lone, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Mudasir Ahmad, Abdul Raqeeb, Shabir Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, and several others. The new entrants from the Sopore constituency included Mohammad Iqbal Wani, former District Youth Convener of AIP; Bilal Ahmad Bhat, who previously served as AIP Halqa President for Adipora; Towseef-ul-Hassan Marazi; and several others. Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the prominent party leaders who were present on the occasion included party's Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, Spokesperson and State Youth President Yawar Dilawar Mir, District President Baramulla Shabir Ahmad Shah, District Vice President and Constituency In-charge Baramulla Shabir Ahmad Lone, District Coordinator and In-charge Langate Constituency Mohammad Munawar Khawaja and others. |
