Vishwa Yoga Institute Jammu organizes Historic International Day of Yoga 2026 celebration

JAMMU, June 22: Vishwa Yoga Institute (WYI), Jammu successfully organized a grand and historic International Day of Yoga 2026 celebration, bringing together thousands of yoga practitioners, students, youth, women, senior citizens, and social organizations from Jammu, Nagrota, Udhampur, and adjoining border areas.
The mega event was led by Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan, Chairman of Vishwa Yoga Institute (WYI), who guided participants through the Common Yoga Protocol and delivered a powerful message of health, discipline, mental well-being, and a drug-free society.
The programme witnessed the gracious presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Vikram Randhawa, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma, and Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma, along with senior government officials, educationists, social workers, community leaders, and prominent citizens.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highly appreciated the efforts of Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan and Vishwa Yoga Institute for promoting yoga and wellness across society. They described the event as one of the most significant yoga celebrations organized in the Jammu region and praised the Institute for inspiring people of all age groups to adopt yoga as a way of life.
The successful organization of the event was made possible through the support and cooperation of several departments and institutions, including the Ministry of AYUSH, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, Punjab National Bank (Circle Office Jammu), NHPC (Ek Navratan company), Excise Department Jammu, Amandeep Hospital Jammu, Tourism Department Jammu, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) AMUL Jammu and various other government and non-government organizations. The Institute expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporting agencies for their valuable contribution.
Special appreciation was extended to Pujya Chinmaya Jyoti Maharaj, Udhampur, whose blessings, guidance, and encouragement inspired a large number of children to participate in the programme.
Vishwa Yoga Institute also acknowledged the valuable support and patronage of Maharaj Kumar (MK) Ajatshatru Singh and Maharani Ritu Singh, whose encouragement and cooperation added dignity and grandeur to the event. Students from DPS actively participated and contributed significantly to the programme's success.
The Institute also expressed its sincere appreciation to Acharya Rajinder, who worked closely with Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan in conducting and coordinating the Common Yoga Protocol session. His dedication, guidance, and active support played an important role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the yoga programme.
Children and volunteers from Bharat Seva Sangh, Nagrota enthusiastically joined the celebration and played a vital role in spreading awareness about the importance of yoga. The Institute also appreciated the contribution of numerous social organizations, volunteers, and local residents who extended their wholehearted support.
A special note of thanks was conveyed to Anuradha Sharma, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, for her valuable cooperation and motivation. Students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalayas, government schools, private schools, and various educational institutions participated in large numbers, making the event truly inclusive and representative of the community.
The Institute further acknowledged the dedicated efforts of its senior supporters and social workers, including Bansi Lal Gupta, Shyam Lal Basan, Subash Chandra, Shyam Kalia, Sunny, and Choudhary Balkar Singh, along with many volunteers whose commitment and hard work played a crucial role in the successful execution of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan thanked all dignitaries, participants, institutions, volunteers, media representatives, supporters, and members of the Vishwa Yoga Institute family. He stated that the remarkable success of the event reflected the collective spirit, dedication, and teamwork of everyone involved.
