Early Times Report RAJOURI, June 29: The District Statistics & Evaluation Office (DSEO), Rajouri today celebrated National Statistics Day to highlight the role of statistics in evidence-based planning, policy formulation and effective governance. The event highlighted the importance of statistics in socio-economic development, monitoring of government schemes and informed decision-making. The participants paid tributes to Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the eminent statistician and father of modern Indian statistics, whose birth anniversary is observed every year as National Statistics Day. On the occasion, the District Statistics & Evaluation Officer underlined the role of statistical personnel in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of accurate data for effective planning and evaluation of developmental programmes. He called upon the officials to maintain the highest standards of accuracy, transparency and professionalism and stressed the need for reliable data to support sustainable development and responsive governance. The programme was attended by officers and officials of the DSEO, along with members of the Statistical Cadre posted in government departments across the district. The participants reiterated their commitment to strengthening the statistical system. |
