Early Times Report JAMMU, June 29: Demonstrating exceptional grit, teamwork, and sporting excellence, the U-18 Girls' Basketball Team of Delhi Public School, Jammu secured an impressive Third Place at the prestigious Asmita Junior UT League U-18 2026, held at the M.A. Stadium Basketball Arena, Jammu. The championship witnessed the participation of 15 district and institutional teams from across Jammu & Kashmir, providing a highly competitive platform for emerging basketball talent. The DPS Jammu girls displayed remarkable determination, resilience, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the tournament, earning a well-deserved podium finish. The Asmita Women's League, an initiative of the Government of India and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Khelo India Programme, is organised by the J&K Basketball Association to promote women's basketball and nurture young sporting talent at the grassroots level. The closing ceremony was graced by former Minister Ms. Priya Sethi and MLA Nagrota Ms. Devyani Rana as the Chief Guests. They felicitated the winning teams and commended the players for their outstanding performances. The talented players who brought laurels to the school are Anshra Iftikhar, Priyanshi Gupta, Vibuti Mahajan, Aadhya Choudhary, Bisman Kour, Avni Dubey, Kavya Gupta, Asmanya Sharma, Lavika Sabarwal, Gunsheen Kour, Ridhvi Gupta, and Tejasvi Gupta. Congratulating the team on this outstanding achievement, Principal Ms. Ruchi Chabra expressed immense pride in the young basketball players for their remarkable performance. She said that their dedication, discipline, and teamwork had brought great honour to the school.
