| NFR installs interactive Digital Technologies for Efficient Training of Loco Pilots in Katihar Division | | | MALIGAON, July 1: In a significant step towards strengthening operational safety and modernising railway training practices, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced several interactive digital technologies at crew lobbies across Katihar Division to enhance the learning experience of Loco Pilots. These initiatives are aimed at providing more effective, practical and technology-driven training, enabling crew members to improve their operational knowledge and decision-making skills while ensuring safer and more efficient train operations. As part of the initiative, interactive touch panels have been installed in all crew lobbies of the division. These digital platforms facilitate day-to-day learning, counselling sessions and quick access to important operational information, making the training process more engaging and user friendly. Katihar Division has also introduced interactive quizzes on the Automatic Signalling System, allowing Loco Pilots to regularly assess and strengthen their understanding of signalling principles directly at the crew lobbies. In addition, a physical working model of the Automatic Signalling System has been implemented to provide practical demonstrations and improve conceptual understanding through hands-on learning. To further enrich route learning, the division has introduced interactive route videography covering both day and night conditions. These high quality videos provide loco pilots with realistic visual familiarisation of railway routes, helping them identify signals, landmarks, gradients and other operational features under varying visibility conditions. This digital approach is expected to significantly improve route knowledge and operational preparedness before undertaking train operations. The division has also launched a dedicated podcast series on railway operational topics, including the functioning of the R.S. Valve, offering an innovative platform for continuous learning. Simultaneously, the crew lobby at Malda Town (MLDT) has been upgraded with improved digital infrastructure and modern facilities to support technology-enabled training and counselling. These initiatives reflect NFR's continued commitment towards leveraging digital technologies to build a highly skilled workforce, strengthen safety standards and promote excellence in railway operations. |
